Williamsport Area School District Announces Trade Program Endorsement
From West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association

Williamsport, Pa. – The Williamsport Area School District Career and Technology Department announced recently that it’s Building Trades program has been endorsed by the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association and also received state wide endorsement at the Pennsylvania Builders Association’s  board meeting this month.  PBA is the voice of the home building industry in Pennsylvania.
The Williamsport Area School District is so very proud of our construction trades program and all of their accomplishments.  One of the most notable accomplishments is the endorsement from the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association.  The WBSBA is one of the most respected associations in the state of Pennsylvania.  The West Branch Susquehanna Builders Associations expectations and requirements hold our program to the highest standards required by industry.  Our ability to operate such a competitive program has given our students an opportunity to acquire skills mandated by industry, thus allowing those students to pursue many opportunities whether it be within industry or post-secondary.  We appreciate the continuing support we receive in order to develop the workforce of tomorrow.
According to Carroll Pawlikowski the Executive Officer of the WBSBA, “Our Board Members and Executive Officer truly appreciated the opportunity to actively participate in this PA Builders Endorsed Trade Program recertification.  Our team verified that WAHS students are indeed learning valid construction trade procedures. This will help ensure that we are working to fill the need for more trained workers in the home building industry and related fields.  Our association is especially pleased to have Randy Williamson, who is teaching these young people, serve as the West Branch Susquehanna Builders President for 2018”.
The endorsement of a trade program involves a comprehensive review and evaluation by professionals working in the construction industry, using criteria established by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The program is also recognized by the Department of Education and endorsed by the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators.  Endorsement certifies that trade programs will properly prepare students for a career in the industry with foundational knowledge in the various building trades.
PBA works with schools around the state to certify their various home building courses, verifying that they meet NAHB educational guidelines.  Students who complete PBA-Endorsed programs will be tested to demonstrate their competency of these standards.   The students’ certification provides reassurance to future employers that they are well-prepared for work with a residential construction company or subcontractor.  PBA members are also provided exclusive access to the contact information of these students to directly discuss employment opportunities.
PBA is committed to a viable, high-quality construction industry and the workforce to support it. Through the Endorsed Trade Program, a stronger future workforce is created and students are provided with recognized certification and other benefits, like building a network of ties in the community through connections with PBA members, locals and local student chapters. Further information about the program can be found at pbaendorsedtrade.org.
