49th Annual Home Show Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Helping to open the 2008 Home Show at the Lycoming College Recreation Center included Walt Nyman, PBA President Ray Fertig, State Representative Steven Cappelli, Home Show Chairman Harley Fry, Williamsport Mayor Gabriel Campana, Lycoming College Vice President & Treasurer Stephen Storck, PBA Field Service Director Jerry Leach, State Representative Garth Everett, and WBSBA President Ray Venema.
Despite a snow storm on Friday evening, the overall attendance was well above our average with a total of 5133 people coming through the Show. The beautiful facility and the many parking lots are truly a blessing. The "Sold-Out" Show included 67 new exhibitors and over 100 vendors returning from last year's Show.
More than 9 barrels of food were collected at the door and given to St. Anthony’s Center. We are extremely pleased with the response from the community.
Exhibitor surveys were distributed on the final day of the Show, as been the custom for many years. Some of the comments included: “overall excellent facility, this year’s attendees were a better quality buyer for our products, this show was nothing short of fantastic, hard to improve on, excellent facility, concession stand facilities could be better but the ladies did an outstanding job, please allow vendors to have bottled water, the aisles were a little too narrow, great show, friendly helpful staff, consider closing the show at 4 pm on Sunday, one of the best shows I’ve ever attended, the show was amazing, fantastic traffic, no problems meeting people.”
Many of the exhibitors expressed interest in serving on the Home Show committee, and nine non-member exhibitors have requested a membership application.
Vendors seemed very pleased with the contacts that were made, and many were anxious to reserve a spot for next year already. The 2009 Show is scheduled for March 5-8. Contracts and info should be mailed by September 1st. It will be important for anyone wishing to exhibit next year to get contracts returned early. The exhibit space this year was completely sold prior to the Show, with great interest by firms on our waiting list.
