HOME SHOW 2009

Thank you to our special guests who were on hand to help open the 2009 Home Show:  Mayor Gabriel Campana; State Representative Rick Mirabito; State Representative Garth Everett; Senator Gene Yaw; Steve Storck, Lycoming College Treasurer; Gene Kreitzer, PBA President; and, representing WBSBA were Ray Venema, President; Harley Fry, Home Show Chairman; Jeff Ulmer, Co-Chairman; and Walt & Marion Nyman, Executive Officers.

169 vendors, including 41 new vendors participated!

The total attendance over the 4 days was 4924.  Thank you to all the volunteers that helped to make this year’s show another success:  many members & friends helped lay out the booths & work the door, the Penn College Student Chapter who spent many long hours working the Treasure Chest, & the Women’s Council members at the concession stand.  A new addition this year was the HOUSE OF CANS built in the Rec Center lobby by the WAHS Career & Technical students under the direction of Randy Williamson. There were 14 barrels of canned food given by folks coming to the Show, which went to the American Rescue Workers.

Romuald Andraka was the grand prize winner of the $1500 voucher which may be used for goods or services with any 2009 exhibitor.

The virtual home show is currently being designed for the website (www.westbranchbuilders.org).  When it goes live, you and your customers may simply click on your booth, and a window will open showing a picture of your display, a brief description of what you do, and contact information including live links to your website or email address.

Exhibitor surveys were distributed on the final day of the Show, as been the custom for many years.  Some of the comments included: “overall excellent facility, this year’s attendees were a better quality buyer for our products, this show was nothing short of fantastic, hard to improve on, excellent facility, great show, friendly helpful staff, one of the best shows I’ve ever attended, the show was amazing, fantastic traffic, no problems meeting people.”

Many of the exhibitors expressed interest in serving on the Home Show committee, and nine non-member exhibitors have requested a membership application.

Vendors seemed very pleased with the contacts that were made, and many were anxious to reserve a spot for next year already.  The 2010 Show is scheduled for March 4-7.  Contracts and info should be mailed by October 1st.  It will be important for anyone wishing to exhibit next year to get contracts returned early.  The exhibit space this year was completely sold prior to the Show, with great interest by firms on our waiting list.
